Factory slump hits hopes of prompt recovery from recession
Britain's factories have seen a fall in production, official figures revealed yesterday.
The Office for National Statistics said manufacturing output declined by 0.7 per cent in April, hitting hopes of a prompt recovery from the first double-dip recession since the 1970s.
It is feared that Britain is now set for a prolonged downturn after the country returned to recession with a 0.3 per cent slide in GDP in the final quarter of 2011 and again in the first quarter of 2012...
