2,000 ‘NI shops to close unless action is taken’

Up to 2,000 shops in Northern Ireland could close this year unless radical action is taken to halt the decline of high streets, a retail lobby group has warned.

The staggering figure was revealed by the Northern Ireland Independent Retail Trade Association (NIIRTA) today as the organisation hosted a town centre summit at Stormont which brought together ministers and senior civil servants from the Departments of Social Development, Environment and Regional Development as well as local traders from across Northern Ireland to debate the issue....Newsletter
